Description

This is a scarlet-sashed (hidasuki) sake bottle by Tomio Ochi, who diligently continues to fire his kiln under the guidance of Anjin Abe, pouring his unfulfilled aspirations into his ceramics. Within a soft form reminiscent of Anjin Abe, there is a great wealth of intricate movement. The fine flow, which can only be appreciated by picking it up, combined with the beautifully fired, hard-vitrified scarlet sash, leaves a sensation of high density in the palm of your hand. It is a powerful work created over a long period of time. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)
Rim 4.1cm × Body diameter 8.6cm × Body diameter 8.3cm × Height 13.1cm Capacity approx. 310cc Tomio Ochi graduated from Ehime Prefectural Niihama Technical High School in 1949. In 1952, he moved to Tokyo to study oil painting and sculpture. Since then, he has dedicated himself to painting and sculpture while working at a company. In 1997, he visited Anjin Abe in Ushimado, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, to receive his tutelage. He built his kiln in Ushimado in 1998, and has since been working on Bizen pottery, drawing on his background in sculpture and painting.
