Description
This is a new Ibe hexagonal sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and form. Inspired by a Kizeto hexagonal cup, this challenging new piece has been reconstructed in the Morimoto style. Within its well-fired, hard surface, subtle "nuke" (blanched areas) are artfully arranged, and the lustrous quality of the clay is a magnificent highlight. The generous dusting of "goma" (ash glaze) in the interior is deeply expressive, perfectly complementing the hexagonal form.
