Description

This Bizen flower vase is by Kazuki Nakamura, a creator of profound and tasteful works who follows in the lineage of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Makoto Nakamura. The piece features a rich scarlet base that highlights the texture of the clay, perfectly complemented by a magnificent *kase-goma* (matte ash glaze) that feels as though it emanates the scent of a fresh forest. Although the *yahazuguchi* (notched-rim) form with handles is the most fundamental of designs—and thus one that clearly reveals the difference in a potter's skill—this piece is finished with a majestic and truly impressive presence. In addition to its quintessential, classic form, it is reasonably priced, making it a perfect choice for a gift. Signed wooden box (double-slatted lid)
Diameter 16.3cm x 13.6cm x Height 24.1cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
