Description

This is a black sake flask, the latest release from the kiln of Masao Akiya, a potter who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality amidst a fresh spirit. The piece features a stylish form characteristic of Akiya-sensei, with white, cobalt blue, and golden sesame glaze pouring down like a waterfall in cascading droplets. The rim displays a brilliant, clear cobalt blue that becomes even more vibrant when reacting to droplets of sake during use, compared to when it is dry. Whether intentional or accidental, the tilted neck of the flask has a charming, whimsical quality that one never tires of watching.
