Description

This flower vase is by Kosei Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of dedicated apprenticeship under Jun Isezaki. It is a simple yet unique piece that embodies the primitive art Kibata strives to create. By wood-firing white clay and eliminating all extraneous colors, the beauty of the work is concentrated solely on the scorched "goma" (ash glaze) and the elegance of its curves. Kibata says he wants to create vessels that make him want to arrange flowers in them; its quiet style seems to pose a question to the viewer as to how one should arrange flowers within it. Paper box
Diameter 15.9cm x 15.8cm x Height 17.1cm Kosei Kibata was born in Inbe, Bizen City, in 1974. In 2002, he began his apprenticeship under Bizen ware artist Jun Isezaki. In 2012, he built his own kiln and became independent in Shimizu, Wake Town. That same year, he received the Tabe Museum Grand Prize and an Encouragement Award at the Tea Ceremony Arts Exhibition.
