Description

This black bowl is the latest kiln opening from Masao Akiya, a potter who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality while embracing a fresh spirit. Named simply "Wan" (bowl) to signify its true versatility, this is the first piece of its kind that Akiya has attempted, featuring a cute, rounded design. The artist himself uses it at home as a café au lait bowl, but it would also be perfect for soup, side dishes, or as a dessert cup. The Bizen-ware version features a beautiful interior landscape, making it a lovely table decoration when filled with water and floating flower petals. Cradling this bowl in both hands during your morning coffee will surely bring you a moment of warmth and relaxation. Signed wooden box to follow later (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 11.0cm × Diameter 10.9cm × Height 7.5cm Masao Akiya was born in Saitama in 1968.
