Description
This is the latest black cup from a kiln firing by Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with his own unique originality amidst a fresh spirit. Keeping the design of the various sake cups that Akitani has developed, this piece has been resized so that it can also be used as a beer or shochu cup. The avant-garde design suits the large form extremely well, and pairs perfectly with the chic, deep, glossy black firing. The design, color, and firing are masterfully unified under a single theme, resulting in a work characteristic of the Isezaki school that fits even contemporary architecture.
