Description

This is a newly fired black cup by Masao Akiya, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a fresh spirit. It is a resized version of the various sake cup designs developed by Mr. Akiya, now suitable for use as a beer or shochu glass. The avant-garde design suits the large form perfectly, pairing exceptionally well with the chic, deeply lustrous black firing. The design, color, and firing are brilliantly unified under a single theme, resulting in a piece characteristic of the Isezaki school that would even complement contemporary architecture.
