Description
This is a flower vase by Kosei Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of diligent training as an apprentice to Jun Isezaki. It is a simple yet unique piece that embodies the primitive art that Kibata-sensei strives for. In the process of turning the "kinuta" (fulling block)—a motif found in daily life—into a flower vase, this form was arrived at through trial and error, with the artist asking himself, "What shape would I want to arrange flowers in?" It is generously coated in ash, and the intense scenery suits the simple form perfectly.
