Description
This Hidasuki sake flask is the work of Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the demanding path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. The piece features a tall, slender, and dignified form, with a slightly elongated oval body leading up to a graceful neck. Using the same clay as his father, which has a slightly higher sand content, the artist creates a seasoned texture that serves as a spicy accent to the gentle landscape of the Hidasuki fire-cord markings. The rich, deep hues of the Hidasuki will become even more lustrous when moistened with sake, fully revealing the profound charm of this technique.
