Description
This is a Hidasuki sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. The elegant, oval form, reminiscent of a miniature cylindrical teacup, clearly reflects Tamon-sensei's refined sensibility. He uses the same clay as his father, which has a slightly higher sand content, adding a sharp, earthen quality to the gentle landscape of the Hidasuki flame markings. The rich hues of the Hidasuki will gain luster when moistened with sake, fully revealing the profound charm of this technique.
