Description

This is a Bizen *hidasuki* (fire-cord) mortar-shaped sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under the master Juroku Harada. The piece features a striking style with a highly tactile blue-gray clay body crisscrossed by vibrant vermilion *hidasuki* markings, instantly conveying the artist’s dedication to clay and firing. The relaxed design of the *himozukuri* (coiled) construction—a technique also mastered by his mentor, Juroku Harada—possesses a sense of gravitas that belies his recent debut. The meticulous finishing of the rim and base speaks to the artist's passion for pottery. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for delivery)
