Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a modern spirit. This piece combines a stylish, inverted triangular form with vivid "hidasuki" (fire-cord) markings. The inverted triangle design, with its delicate line patterns and rim construction, possesses a commanding presence, almost like a wide-mouthed vase. The vertical, swirling hidasuki markings resemble raging flames.
