Black rice bowl

This black rice bowl is the latest work fresh from the kiln by Masao Akitani, an artist who trained under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with a unique originality amidst a new sensibility. The combination of a simple bowl silhouette and chic black makes for an incredibly stylish and contemporary rice bowl. Each piece is hand-painted with black slip, resulting in a unique coloration for every individual item. It is thin, light, and perfectly sized, fully demonstrating Masao Akitani’s high level of technical skill. Because the black finish varies from piece to piece, these would make a delightful gift as a set. Paper box
