Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juroku Harada. The work is reminiscent of his mentor, Juroku Harada, and features a distinctive design at the rim along with an intense, bluish-toned kiln transformation as its highlights. With its bold form that evokes the impression of a small jar rather than a mere sake cup, this piece exudes a unique atmosphere. The interior is divided between a deep, reddish "shiso" (perilla) color and a refined, greenish-tinged "goma" (sesame glaze), and the texture of the clay is sure to evolve further with use. (Please be aware that the shape of the base may cause the cup to be unstable.)
Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included.
