Description

This is a new *yohen* (kiln-transmuted) sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. This piece is crafted using highly refractory clay, with a controlled application of the highly unpredictable *haikaburi* (ash-covered) kiln effect. It was created with the deliberate goal of achieving full ash coverage, resulting in a dull, shimmering purple glaze that could be described as "silver-purple." Due to the dramatic kiln-transmutation, a simple form was chosen to allow one to focus on and enjoy the firing.

"Takashi Baba Special Feature" Signed wooden box will be provided at a later date (please allow some time for shipping).
