Description

This is a new *yohen* (kiln-transmuted) sake cup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. Using clay with high fire resistance, he has created this piece by controlling the highly unpredictable ash-covered *yohen* effect. It was intentionally crafted to achieve an overall ash-covered finish, resulting in a dull, shimmering violet glaze that could be described as "purple silver." It possesses an intensity to the touch reminiscent of mineral ore, and due to its simple form, it also appears as if it were carved from a piece of cooled, scattered volcanic rock.
