Description

This is a new black Bizen beer mug by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating pieces and firing kilns. The piece features a simple, cylindrical form that subtly highlights the potter's wheel marks, finished with a black slip for a chic appearance. Designed around the theme of creating functional and enjoyable vessels, Baba has incorporated clever touches such as wheel marks that provide a natural grip for the fingers, and a slightly flared rim that makes it easy to drink from while showcasing the beauty of the foam. Each piece displays a rich variety of black kiln-transformation effects, with some featuring faint cobalt blue hues and others showing shifts into shades of purple depending on the intensity of the black, allowing you to enjoy the unique character of each individual vessel.
