Description

This is a new Ibe sake cup by Iwao Kaneshige, who was born and raised in the prestigious Kaneshige family and has been diligently honing his craft at the kiln where great masters such as Toyo Kaneshige and Michiaki Kaneshige fired their works for generations. The simple composition, relying solely on the clear and straightforward flavor of the clay, is a style unique to Iwao-sensei, who places deep trust in Bizen clay. The clay's rich, subtly orange-tinged texture is exceptionally fine and promises the joy of long-term use. This minimalist style, underpinned by stoicism, creates a piece that one will never tire of and can enjoy for many years to come. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 6.4cm x Diameter 6.2cm x Height 5.0cm Iwao Kaneshige is the eldest son of Michiaki Kaneshige. Born and raised in a family of Bizen ware potters, his own love for ceramics led him to pursue a path in pottery. He refined his skills under the guidance of the Kaneshige family, went independent in 1995, and held his first solo exhibition at a gallery in Okayama. He has exhibited in the Kaneshige Family Exhibitions in 1999 and 2001.
