Description
This Ibe sake bottle is the work of Tomio Ochi, who diligently dedicated himself to firing kilns under the guidance of Yasuhito Abe, pouring his still-unfulfilled aspirations into his ceramics. The hand-coiled technique creates a unique flow, and the complex, undulating body reflects the sculptural expression devised by Ochi. A stream of yellow sesame glaze runs in a straight line from the tilted neck, creating a striking scene that even drifts with a touch of melancholy. The piece is a crossover between a surface from which iron content oozes stickily and a form reminiscent of a standing statue.
