Description
This Bizen teacup is by Hisanaga Koide, who made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under the late Juro Harada. Through the combined use of hand-building and the potter's wheel, he has achieved a powerful form that embraces a comfortable asymmetry. At the same time, the weight is neither too heavy nor too light, demonstrating Koide’s solid skill and meticulous craftsmanship. The surface has a bright and vibrant impression, combining cheerful yellow goma (sesame) glaze with a chocolate-brown clay base. (Please note in advance that there are a few spots where the glaze has adhered during firing on the body and inside the foot.)
