Description

This is a large-kiln fired Guinomi sake cup by Kazuhiro Mori, who follows in the footsteps of his father, dedicating his life to the art of large-kiln firing and dreaming of recreating the powerful beauty of ancient Bizen pottery. Although molded, the intricate indentations resembling hand-pinching and the spatula marks from chamfering ensure the piece does not look machine-made. The smart, cylindrical form makes it suitable for enjoying not only cold sake but also Western spirits. Fired in the exceptional Kanpu large kiln, the interior and sides feature fine, leopard-like spots. Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 6.2cm x 5.8cm x Height 7.4cm Kazuhiro Mori was born as the eldest son of Togaku Mori. He graduated from Kyoto College of Art in 1987 and the Tokyo Glass Art Institute in 1991. From 1992, he studied pottery techniques under his father, Togaku Mori. He specializes in coil-building and wheel-forming, creating pieces such as crane-neck vases. He held his first kiln firing and became independent in 1995. In 1998, he was selected for the Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition, and in 1999 and 2000, he held debut exhibitions at department stores in Okayama and Hiroshima. In 2002, he exhibited at the first Gakuen-kai Exhibition featuring the school of Togaku Mori.
