Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. Its unique form, somewhere between a mortar and a sake cup, echoes the spirit of his master, Juro Harada. He has inherited not only the artistry but also the firing technique of his mentor; the heavy, dull-glowing shiso-red and mustard-colored yellow sesame glazes clearly demonstrate the intense, rich firing. The magnificent yellow sesame in the interior will shine beautifully when filled with sake, bringing solace to the heart of the beholder.
