Description

This black rectangular plate is the work of Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and whose work reflects a unique originality within a new spirit. While it has a simple oval shape, the tiered design of the rim and the gradation of black and *goma* (sesame-like ash glaze) that accentuates the depth of the interior shine with Akitani's refined sense of style. The black surface gives the entire piece a sleek look, making it perfect for enhancing the vivid colors of vegetables and fruits. The scarlet of the *hidasuki* (fire cord) combines with the black and *goma* tones, allowing you to enjoy the shifting hues as you use it.
