Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Go Kaneshige, who established his kiln in Kukui and continues his research and pottery making. The well-melted ash has created a greyish kiln-transmutation effect, a "haikaburi" (ash-covered) variation developed in his own kiln. The austere colors of the unglazed portions deepen when wet with sake, reflecting his vision that the piece should be completed over time in the hands of the owner. The orthodox, faithful-to-the-basics form is also characteristic of Go Kaneshige. Signed wooden box to be provided later (please note that it will take some time before shipment) Diameter 6.3cm × Diameter 6.2cm × Height 5.6cm Go Kaneshige was born as the second son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Michiaki Kaneshige and is the grandson of the great Living National Treasure, Toyo Kaneshige. Go Kaneshige graduated from the Ashiya College of Arts and Crafts in 1988. After working at the Atelier Hikousen Ceramics Research Institute, he returned to Bizen in 1992. He exhibited at the Bizen Young Artists Exhibition in September 1996 and has been active in events such as the Kaneshige Family Exhibition since May 1999.
