Description

This is a new Ido-style sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his work with clay, firing, and form. True to Morimoto's style—having immersed himself in creating this piece as if pining for the great masterpieces of Ido ware—this latest work possesses a powerful presence, as if it had already aged for many years. From the adjustment of the glaze to the beauty of the three-tiered expansion of the body, holding and observing it conveys that it was crafted without a single moment of compromise. The piece itself is very porous and prone to absorbing sake, so one of its pleasures is witnessing the transformation in its crazing and the character of its surface over time. (Please note that due to the nature of this work, it cannot hold sake for extended periods.) Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipment)
