Description
This is a new Ido-style sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and form. Engrossed in the creation of this piece as if pining for a great masterpiece of Ido ware, Mr. Morimoto has produced a work that possesses a powerful presence, as if it had aged for many years despite being brand new. From the adjustment of the glaze to the beauty of the three-tiered flared body, one can feel the unwavering focus he poured into every moment of its creation. The piece itself is highly porous and will easily absorb sake, making the changes in the crackle glaze and the character of the surface a joy to behold. (Due to the nature of the work, please note that sake cannot be left in the cup for long periods of time.)
*There is a slight wobble, but it stabilizes once sake is poured into it. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for delivery).
