Description

This is a new Ido-style sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and form. True to the style of Morimoto-sensei, who became so deeply engrossed in the process that it seemed as if he were pining for a great masterpiece of Ido ware, this latest work possesses a compelling presence, as if it had already aged for many years. From the delicate adjustments of the glaze to the beauty of the three-tiered expansion of the body, one can feel that every moment of its creation was crafted with meticulous, unwavering attention. The work itself is highly porous and will easily absorb sake, making the transformation of its glaze crackle and texture part of the joy of ownership. (Please note that due to the nature of the piece, sake cannot be left in the cup for long periods of time.) Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipment)
