Description
This Bizen sake cup is the latest work by Mashiro Aiga, an artist known for creating works that are always straightforward and substantial. It was fired with an application of slip, while the masterful use of refractory clay creates a gradation in the landscape. Aiga-sensei is highly skilled in his use of refractory clay, resulting in an Ibe-te surface that features a deep, scarlet gradation reminiscent of a ripe grape held up to the light. The foot and the waist area are left free of slip, showcasing a glossy, chocolate-like texture that is truly remarkable. The two different clay qualities on the body and waist offer a surprising depth, creating a one-of-a-kind surface that cannot be seen anywhere else.
