Description

This Bizen plate is a creation of Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who inherits the legacy of the master potters Rokuro and Shin Nakamura to produce pieces of profound character. Featuring a rustic form with a stony texture, it showcases the beautiful scarlet clay aesthetic characteristic of Kazuki’s work, resulting in a simple piece that nonetheless contains an infinite landscape of expression. The bold, dark sangiri (kiln-fired patterns) provides a magnificent accent to the scarlet clay, making the plate so exquisite that one instinctively wants to use it as a vessel for sake. The subdued, elegant scarlet tone does not overpower, but rather enhances the food and harmonizes beautifully with the entire dining table. Paper box
Diameter 18.7cm x 18.3cm x Height 3.0cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his pottery skills. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
