Description

This Bizen plate is a creation of Kazuki Nakamura, an artist whose work draws from the legacy of master potters Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura to produce pieces of profound depth. Its rustic form, reminiscent of stone, features the beautiful *hi-iro* (scarlet) clay texture characteristic of Kazuki’s style—a simple piece that nonetheless contains infinite vistas. The bold black *sangiri* (kiln-fired patterns) provides a stunning accent to the scarlet clay, resulting in a masterpiece so exquisite that it beckons to be used as a vessel for sake. The subdued, mellow scarlet tone does not overpower, but rather enhances the food and harmonizes beautifully with the entire table setting. Paper box
Diameter 18.5cm x 18.3cm x Height 3.3cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
