Description
This is a Karatsu sake cup by the uniquely experienced artist, Morihiro Hosokawa. The thick straw-ash glaze thins slightly at the rim, revealing beautiful spots. The interior features a delicate, bluish-tinged glaze that promises to evolve and deepen as it absorbs sake with continued use. The foot has been cut away and finished with a straight incised line, providing a bold, powerful contrast to the mellow glaze by highlighting the coarse texture of the clay body.
