Description
This Ki-Seto sake cup is by Takeshi Ikenishi, an artist who, true to the name of his Fugen Kiln ("Silent Kiln"), lets his actions speak louder than words as he continues to challenge himself to recreate the masterpieces of antiquity, enchanting people with his brilliant and bold works. The slightly thin, fluid form is impeccably shaped by the constriction at the body, resulting in a truly impressive piece. A thin, brownish film coats the soft yellow surface, creating a magnificent "abura-age" (fried bean curd) glaze that looks almost as if it is melting. It is adorned with a charming floral pattern, and the copper green (tanpan) glaze has bled through beautifully to the interior. This particular piece has a slightly stronger yellowish hue and a glossy finish.
