Description
This Bizen *haikaburi* (ash-covered) sake cup is by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. As the name *haikaburi* suggests, this piece features dramatic grey kiln-transformation across its entire surface. When held and examined, its unique texture almost feels as though it were carved from a piece of volcanic rock. The rim has been meticulously finished, ensuring the ash-covered texture does not cause any discomfort, a thoughtful detail characteristic of Morimoto-sensei.
