Description
This is a black cup by Masao Akitani, an artist who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works brimming with unique originality within a fresh aesthetic. Akitani’s strong dedication to the color black has paid off, resulting in a striking piece that fuses a deep, lustrous black with a rich *goma* (sesame-like ash) glaze effect. Reflecting Akitani’s studious nature, the design balances aesthetics and usability perfectly, ensuring that the piece is a joy to admire even after you have finished your drink. Named "Black Cup," this piece is sized somewhere between a teacup and a beer tumbler, making it suitable for both shochu and beer. A paulownia wood box is included, making it an ideal gift.
