Description

This Bizen sake bottle is by Living National Treasure Yu Fujiwara, who expanded his vision beyond Japan to the world to share the appeal of Bizen ware. The firing is characteristic of Fujiwara's work, featuring a unique "kase-goma" (matte ash glaze) reminiscent of tree bark combined with a scarlet clay body. The fine-grained kase-goma has developed a soft, deep green hue, which, along with the aroma of sake, evokes the rich fragrance of a forest and a landscape that feels like the mysterious breath of life. The simple and clear-cut form, with its well-balanced weight, reflects Fujiwara's signature style, which sought a grandeur in his works like that of the sprawling earth. Original signed box (shiho-san style)
