Description
This is a tea bowl by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of dedicated apprenticeship under Jun Isezaki. By applying a slip and removing the piece from the kiln during the firing process, he has created a unique appearance as if the entire bowl were coated in an iron glaze. Despite this novel aesthetic, the form remains orthodox, and it is finished to be highly functional, complemented by the smooth texture resulting from the pull-from-kiln technique. Part of the foot ring has carbonized and taken on a subtle silvery hue, adding an accent to the character of the piece.
