Description
This is an Ibe sake cup by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of diligent training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. It features a lustrous, ink-like black finish worthy of the Ibe name, while the sand marks and sesame glaze appear as if stars have been scattered across the night sky. The Ibe surface has gained depth through skillful firing, creating a quality that makes one feel as if they are ascending toward a starry sky while gazing at it. The simple, unadorned form is free of quirks and very approachable.
