Description
This Ibe mug is by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. The form, designed for easy stacking, adds an interesting accent to what is otherwise a simple mug. The rim and handle are thinly shaped, achieving both ease of use and a sharp silhouette. Its matte surface, which gives off a dull, metallic luster, resembles iron that has tarnished to black, making it a unique piece even among unglazed stoneware.
