Description
This Ibe mug is by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of diligent training as an apprentice to Jun Isezaki. The form, designed for easy stacking, adds an interesting accent to what would otherwise be a simple mug. The rim and handle are thinly crafted, achieving both ease of use and a sharp silhouette. Its matte surface, which gives off a dull, metallic luster, resembles iron that has been blackened by oxidation, making it a unique standout even among unglazed ceramics.
