Description
This Ibe mug is the long-awaited debut work of Takao Kibata, who dedicated nine years to training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. The design, which allows for easy stacking, adds an interesting accent to what would otherwise be a simple mug, making it a work of art in its own right. The rim and handle are thinly formed, achieving both ease of use and a sharp silhouette. The "goma" (sesame) ash glaze resting on the black Ibe clay creates a beautiful depth of shading.
