Description
This Ibe teacup is the work of Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. The piece brilliantly draws out the potential of the clay, with the beautiful black finish characteristic of Ibe ware combining with the "goma" (ash glaze) to create subtle shadings within the black. The superb texture of the clay paired with the simple form gives this teacup a stylish, avant-garde aesthetic. While modern in style, it retains the signature Bizen ware characteristic of harmonizing with any space or setting, making it a delightful vessel for everyday use.
