Description
This Bizen tea cup is by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of training as a pupil of Jun Isezaki. A work that brilliantly brings out the qualities of the clay, it features a beautiful, shimmering gold glaze that accentuates—and is in turn accentuated by—the matte purple sections. The combination of excellent clay texture and simple form gives the cup an incredibly stylish, avant-garde ceramic quality. Despite its modern style, it retains the characteristic of Bizen ware that allows it to harmonize with any space or setting, making it a delight to use as an everyday tea cup.
