Description
This Ibe tea cup is by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of training as a disciple of Jun Isezaki. It is a piece that brilliantly draws out the qualities of the clay; the beautiful black of the Ibe-de technique combines with the natural ash glaze (goma) to create subtle shadings within the black. The superb texture of the clay paired with the simple form gives this tea cup a stylish, avant-garde atmosphere. While the style is modern, it retains the characteristic of Bizen ware to harmonize with any space or setting, making it a delightful piece for daily use.
