Description

This Bizen teacup is by Takao Kibata, who made his long-awaited debut after nine years of diligent training as an apprentice to Jun Isezaki. The piece brilliantly brings out the qualities of the clay, with a texture that graduates from dark brown to black in a matte finish without any gloss; the deeper you look into its rich color, the more you are drawn in. The combination of superb clay quality and a simple form makes this teacup both stylish and evocative of avant-garde pottery. Despite its modern style, it possesses the characteristic of Bizen ware that allows it to harmonize with any space or setting, making it a delight to use as an everyday teacup.
