Description

This Bizen sake cup is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, who carries on the tradition of master sake-ware potters Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura, creating works of profound character. The piece features a beautiful contrast between the earthy red of the clay and the green of the "kase-goma" (matte ash glaze). The way the clay's texture transforms beautifully when dampened by sake is magnificent, making this a true "sake-thief" of a vessel that captivates many sake enthusiasts. Its form is also superb, possessing a comfortable sense of rhythm and flow despite its understated appearance. Signed wooden box (with two-way struts)
Diameter 7.5cm × Diameter 7.3cm × Height 4.9cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he apprenticed under his grandfather and father to hone his pottery skills. He fired his first kiln and became independent in 2006.
