Bizen sake cup

This Bizen sake cup is by the renowned artisan Makoto Nakamura, who is celebrated for his sake ware and tableware and is the eldest son of the esteemed Bizen pottery master Rokuro Nakamura. The piece features a body that appears to have naturally swelled from the earth, contrasted by the strong, deliberate carving on the waist and foot rim. The sharp, decisive cuts around the waist create a dramatic tension within the piece. The texture of the clay visible in the sharp carvings resembles that of fruit, offering a fascinating contrast to the body of the vessel. Original signed wooden box (shiho-san)
