Description
This is a Bizen tea caddy by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an excellent aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. It is a *shirifukura* (bottom-heavy) shaped tea caddy with a somewhat smart and sharp form, and despite its intense firing, it leaves a clean and refreshing impression overall. The rich yellow sesame glaze (*kigoma*) is layered upon itself, with a mist-like, fine-grained sesame base overlaid with liquid sesame and scorched sesame. A *hidasuki* (fire-cord) pattern is applied around the rim, avoiding the sesame glaze, and the inside of the rim, in particular, has been polished smooth through use and care.
Signed wooden box (*tomobako* with four-way bracing)
Rim 3.8cm × Diameter 7.3cm × Diameter 7.2cm × Height 7.7cm (including ivory lid) Yoshinobu Morimoto was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1976. He completed the Bizen Pottery Center program in 1996.
