Description

This is a Bizen sake bottle by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, a leading figure of the Kaneshige family. This sake bottle features a "kase" (dry/matte) kiln-transformed glaze, fired thoroughly in the path of the smoke connecting the chambers of the kiln. The subtle differences in temperature have created a wealth of landscapes, resulting in a vibrant piece rich in highlights, including matte sesame glaze, black-silver kiln transformations, and scarlet coloring. True to the Kaneshige family's dedication to their clay, the scarlet hue is incredibly elegant, and the piece will surely develop an even more beautiful tone with continued use. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included.
Rim: 3.6cm x Body diameter: 8.8cm x 8.6cm x Height: 13.5cm; Capacity: approx. 350cc Jumpei Kaneshige was born in Komaba, Tokyo, in 1972 as the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige. He graduated from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Waseda University in 1994. In 2000, he completed a graduate program in sculpture at Long Island University in New York, USA, and upon returning to Japan, he studied under his father, Kosuke Kaneshige.
