Description

This is a kohiki sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. True to his style of approaching Joseon dynasty works with a sense of reverence, this is a highly authentic piece in both glaze and form. You can see the various expressions of the kohiki glaze as its thickness varies across the rim, the interior, and the areas where the glaze intersects. Great care has been taken with the firing, and when sake is poured in, it seeps into the glaze, changing the color in a way reminiscent of "amamori" (rain leakage) staining. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
